Relay Tour of Britain

To Celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the launch of the Triumph TR7 we would like to arrange a relay tour of Britain.

The event would raise money for a designated charity (to be decided) by asking the participants to collect sponsorship for the miles that they cover. Triumph TR7.com will also provide facilities for people to donate based upon the total miles that the 'baton' covers.

The idea came about following comments about a more 'relaxed' version of Club Triumph's wonderful Round Britain Reliability Tour. However to do a relaxed version would take a couple of weeks and Annual Leave is precious (and in short supply) to many owners. Therefore the TriumphTR7.com tour will take the form of a relay.

You can join as many 'legs' as you wish, participating for a day or many days. The baton will be handed to a new driver as many times as necessary in order for the baton to cover as many miles as possible. The tour will include a visit to the Speke site and maybe to Canley & Solihull. Commercial interest has been forthcoming which will mean that participants will get a commemorative 'plaque'.

But we do need your help... the route should avoid all M-ways and stick to the more 'interesting' roads wherever possible. Not having an encyclopedic like brain of the UK's roads I would like YOUR suggestions please!!!

The proposed start date is Saturday June 11th from Speke, although the 2nd of April does sound nice! The event is scheduled to last for 9 days, finishing on Fathers day on 19 June 2005 - the destination yet to be decided. Personally I would like to do some of the Cornwall leg as that's an area of the country I'm quite fond of!

If you know some good roads, would like to participant or think it's just a mad idea let me know!! I would say though that if a few FTO owners can do it then a clan of old wedge's should find the whole thing a sinch!

Click the link below to register interest, or make some other comment! Remember we do not have a list of owners, TriumphTR7.com isn't a club and has no 'membership' - if you are interested you have to contact us!! And despite commercial interest the wedge clubs are not involved!

Hey a Relay Tour that sound great/stupid... how do I get involved?
